Today in WTF: Masochistic PC game or Sadistic prank in a box?

We’ve always heard about games that will bridge the gap between make believe and reality, but we never expected this.

lose/lose is a Mac-only game that looks like a run of the mill arcade classic-style shooter but with a twist…  Every time you shoot an alien a file extension briefly flashes where the alien was.  That is the extension of a random file somewhere on your computer that’s just been deleted.  If—or when—you die, the game itself will be deleted.  At first glance it seems like a funny prank to send to a friend, but then again, you’re the computer guy who he’s going to ask for help when his computer won’t boot.

So fire up your VMs, stow it in a Sandbox or pull out that Mac that has nothing you need on it, and start competing for the top spot on the scoreboard.  Watch out, the guy with the highest score has killed 4,294,967,295 aliens as of posting.  That’s a lot of files.

I really want to play this now. I think I'll bust out the old laptop.

Mac only. Sort of a big detail.

Yeah, good call guys, the site didn't say anything about it so I assumed it was PC by default. Hadn't been planned on installing it on this machine so I missed it.

Want to try SO bad.. but no way I have the guts.

No workarounds either, I want to go for it for real.
