Nintendo has recently released an update for the Opera-powered Internet Channel on the Wii. This update enables to Wii to view Flash 9 content, as it has been limited to archaic Flash 7 content since inception. Also with the update, in a sudden outbreak of common sense, Nintendo has made the browser free to download. Previously, the Internet Channel cost 500 Wii Points, the equivalent of $5.
If you shelled out 500 Wii Points to browse the web on your couch, don’t fret. Nintendo is offering a free NES Virtual Console download to those users that previously downloaded the Internet Channel. If you grabbed the Internet Channel while it was still in beta all those years ago like me, you get nothing. It was free back then, stop being so greedy!
Go now and take care of business. If you have not yet downloaded the Internet Channel, you’ve got nothing to lose in catching up with the times. If you’re receiving the free NES Virtual Console game, I highly recommend Kirby’s Adventure or Mega Man 2.
