Mega Man live action movie – low budget, but seems promising

More than anything else, the convergence of accessibility to high technology and a generation of adults who grew up as gamers means that those grownups are able to realize the dreams of creating movies and songs based on the games they grew up with.

I submit as a case in point:

While yes, there are some issues with cheesiness, the sheer fact that this is even possible is extremely uplifting. As extremely high end equipment and software comes ever closer to the realm of affordibility, we will only see more and more of these types of projects. In a sense, we are in the beginning of a renaissance in the audio and visual arts.

We talked the other day about OCRemix.org and what they’re doing. Canon has recently released their EOS 5d Mark II, which can be used to shoot some pretty astoundingly high quality video footage considering the base package is under $3000. Combine that with around $1500 worth of software such as Adobe’s Creative Suite CS4 Master collection, and you now have the capability to create films that could be considered theatrical quality.

For those who grew up playing Mega Man, this concept may excite you, even if it does end up being somewhat hokey, the fact that it is even possible excites the young gamer in all of us.

Yup, it's "good enough" that it crosses the line of hokeyness for me. I've watched it a few times, and I'm of the same opinion:

  3. I'm hopefully not going too far offbase by saying that Capcom is a great company in terms of dealing with its fans. Obviously, we fans at OC ReMix being tapped to create Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix's soundtrack is one aspect of that. But Eddie Lebron's Mega Man movie trailer is another that'll be promoted sooner rather than later on the company's blog, Capcom Unity.

It's one thing for a company to pass stuff around its office, but it's another to actively harness the power of fan-created content to connect with fans and help drive one's business.

Ultimately, I'm excited both at the base standard of quality of fan content increasing as well as the doors that opens for fans into the professional realm. As the line between pros and fans continues to blur thanks to advances in technology, it'll the be savy companies with their ear to the ground who make the most of what fans like us can offer!

It looks amusing. Far better than some of the fan-created content out there. I'd watch it...especially after some drinking.

I actually auditioned to do some voicework for that movie several months ago. All I had to go by were some stills, it's pretty cool to see it in action.

Low-budget? Yes. Hokey? Yes. Will I watch it? Yes.

Hey, be nice. Icrontic is full of good people, we promise.
