New Releases for The Week of Shaman Deliveries and Exploding Girls

New Releases for The Week of Shaman Deliveries and Exploding Girls

Kona's Crate

Kona’s Crate is the new incarnation of the previously released indie game Boxes. In both games, players control a small platform with two thrusters on it. They control this platform, Lunar Lander-style, in an attempt to get a small crate to its destination without breaking it. This new iteration adds more obstacles to the puzzles, as well as the character of Kona, the native Chief who is the recipient of the crates. The game has over sixty puzzling levels and the ability to share high scores on Facebook. In addition to the Steam release, a port is coming to iOS and Android.

Panzer Corps

In Panzer Corps, players assemble WWII-era armies, and battle it out on a hex grid in a turn-based tactics engine. It seems to have lots to offer, if you’re into that sort of thing. There are 400 unit types in 19 classes with 20 detailed parameters to identify each unit’s abilities, 17 terrain types, and 19 countries to choose from in 26 scenarios. That’s a lot of variety, and the engine sounds robust and intuitive—even allowing for units to develop and advance through a campaign. If they ever decide to theme the game with dragons or spaceships or something, I would certainly give it a try.

NCAA Football 12

NCAA Football 12 is just like NCAA Football 11, except it has these new features: Road to Glory, Coaching Carousel, Custom Playbooks, Custom Conferences, Authentic Gameday Traditions, Smart Zone Coverage, and Enhanced Tackling Engine. I don’t know what any of that means, so…  erm …  there you go….

Ms. 'Splosion Man

If you’re not familiar, ‘Splosion Man is a platformer in which the protagonist must use his ability to explode his own body to escape each level and free himself from the scientists who created him. Ms. ‘Splosion Man is the sequel. The game has similar gameplay, with a few new abilities and features. Most notably, the game includes a mode called 2 girls, 1 controller. In this mode, there are two self-exploding characters, each being controlled by one of the analog sticks on the Xbox controller. If you’ve had your corpus callosum severed in a strange and very lucky icicle accident, and you’ve been looking for a way to show off your newfound abilities to your friends, that’s the mode you’ll want to play on. For everyone else, it will likely be controller-tossingly frustrating.

Cliff_Forster Once upon a time I spent some time on sports gaming. Usually I say the more Sim it is the more drab it is to play (Give me NBA Jam and Mario Super Sluggers). In the case of the EA football titles, the additions they have made over the years really do enhance the simulation experience without making for boring gameplay. They have become these adjustable titles that you can play any way you want. You want to play it with your own selcted personel and custom playbook? Want to just pick the team and the plays and watch it unfold? Perhaps you just want to just play it arcade style with a ready made team and playbook, set it on easy and chuck it long every down? Its all dooble, the games are so flexable to meet the players demands. It's actually really impressive how flexable EA has made football games. They have so much depth that a football novice could have a pretty deep understanding of the game by time they sink a season into it. I'd tell anyone that really wants to learn the game, if you have access to a console, play an EA football game, you will learn more that way than by watching it on TV.

Butters Its not a new generation engine so its roster update year. As far as I'm concerned the custom playbook should have been available from day one. .. and its not on PC

Romad317 Thank you! I finally have a suitable replacement for my lost and much lamented copy of Panzer General. I must have this to begin anew my conquest of the world!
