New Releases for the Week of Exciting Bikes and Lost Meerkats

On the PS3 this week, we’re getting Joe Danger, an Excitebike-esque motocross racing game. Perform dangerous tricks and attempt to finish first, racing against the clock or against friends in split-screen or internet multi-player. There is a custom track builder with lots of set pieces to choose from, and even a live-changes track builder which allows changes to be made mid-ride. With slick graphics and lots of options, this is one to keep an eye on.

Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker

For the PSP, Solid Snake fans will be picking up Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. This newest game in the MGS franchise return control of the famous Solid Snake to the player’s hands. The big new thing is multi-player co-op, allowing players to join up with three friends to coordinate a more tactical approach to the missions. If you’ve found yourself with a hankerin’ for crawling around in cardboard boxes, check this one out.

Lead the Meerkats

The Icrontic spotlight this weeks falls on the pointed muzzle of Lead the Meerkats for the Wii. As a young meerkat accidentally separated from his pack, the protagonist’s only chance at survival is to build up a new meerkat community in the harsh climate of the dry savannas of Africa. The game is part community sim and part real time strategy. The player will have to learn to manage the meerkats as their numbers grow, and when predators or rival meerkat gangs attack, the new home must be defended. Resources must be managed and security must be balanced with expansion.
